The simplicity of being useful blocks out the fun house distortion of questioning our value/worth/importance.
Human capital is alive and well. I think it would be a bit of false humility to say “oh shucks, I’m not sure how this happened”. Truth is our team’s top priority is caring about each other, and investing in each other first.
I can proudly say at 47, and something that I know to be 100% true is if you focus on your own internal goodness, everything else compounds on the outside.
It’s refreshing to see someone with so much passion for the betterment of a program and your child. It’s also a massive reminder for me, as a parent, a coach, and a human, on how much we’re capable of accomplishing when we throw those limiting beliefs out the door.
I hold the keys to my internal castle, and to get those doors unlocked first will allow for everything else to fall in place.
The more people you surround yourself with who know their job, do their job, and take it seriously, the more success you will find.
“Hey, the cameras are on us, act like a holy man!”
No wall flowering at the Marckwardt’s. If we’re going to do something, make it count and know why we’re doing it.
If I could keep that question in my front pocket as I’m parenting “are the boys going to turn out in a good way because of me or in spite of me?”, I think I’d find myself more present and aware of the decisions I’m making and the comments I’m making.
